Cynn from Gw1 was in the story and self identified as an elementalist. Balthazar, Grenth, Melandru and Dwayna are, in Gw lore, patrons of different kinds of elementalists. There's that guy who lives in the castle in Kessex Hills and all prominent people in the Sons of Svanir and Flame Legion are elementalists.
Non-displaying NPCs. In busy maps (Auric Basin, Silverwastes during metas), I regularly see NPCs displayed as names & health bars only, without the model. If I select such an NPC, its model is displayed, but deselecting causes the model to disappear yet again. This is on the Mac client.I was going to post a scree

In GW1 it was not as much of an issue since there was a differentiation between showing player names and NPC names with a keybind. In GW2, holding ALT shows all names, player and NPC alike, so it is still a visual mess for me. I had not considered the minions, pets, clones, and minis. That is a good point.

NPC rank is a term describing the relative strength of NPCs of the same level, both allied and hostile. Stronger foes have names that are prefixed by "Veteran", "Champion", etc. to indicate they will be tougher to defeat than their normal counterparts. The nameplates of high-ranking NPCs also include a colored border around their portrait.
