The super slim works just fine as a ps3, but my main gripe with it is that it's just so ugly. The cheap plastic, the ridged top, the really cheap disc drive cover all make me yearn for a regular slim. And now the CPU/RSX go up to 80C under the heavy load of games like TLOU and GoW3. I've set the fan to 40% speed using webMAN and room temp is about between 25-30 most of the time. Your console is probably cech-j and is produced in 2008, your cell/rsx is 65nm/65nm so one more time. Your temps are in danger zone.

So I also have a PS4 Pro (2018 Model, used to have a Original Model, not slim) It does play PS3 games through PS Now but needs to connnect to Internet for Streaming, I chose the PS3 Slim Model over the Super Slim because the Modern Design with the New PS3 logo. I upgraded the HDD with the 500gb 7200rpm Hard Drive. On average, based on months of sold eBay listings data, an original PS3 that is backward-compatible with PS2 games sells for $259. However, on average, non-backward-compatible “fat” PS3 consoles sell for $85. The redesigned PS3 Slim sells for $120, and the PS3 Super Slim model sells for $94 on average.
I literally bought PS3 Slim CFW just to play PS2 games and I read everywhere that the Slim and Super Slim can't play PS2 games smoothly because they don't have PS2 hardware in them. Let me say this, I'm BLOWN AWAY by how smoothly it runs any game I throw at it. I tried about 10 games and all of them run without any issues and at full speed.
since you are using hen, i recommend to set webmans's fan settings to manual 40%. you can watch the temps from your phone or pc by typing your ps3's IP followed by "/cpursx.ps3". if the temps stay below 70 when playing games, then you are okay at 40%. My new ps3 super slim is a 12gb model, the drive bay is empty you need to buy a caddy (easy to find from 3th parts) I got a 500gb hdd, after the installation, ps3 will clone the nand into the hdd, very friendly you don’t need a pendrive. Oh, so that's kinda cool. I have 12gb SS PS3 as my first.
